Drake 'first contacted Maya Jama two years ago and is now looking for romance'

Drake is reportedly looking for a romance with Maya Jama and first contacted her two years ago.

The singer, 33, has provoked Maya's ex boyfriend Stormzy, 26, in a new song where he refers to the TV presenter, 25, as a 'sweet one'.

According to The Sun, Drake first contacted Maya in 2018 but she ignored his messages as she was still dating Stormzy at the time.

A source said: 'Drake definitely appeared to have a soft spot for Maya and late in 2018 he started following her on Instagram out of the blue.

'She totally ignored him and didn’t follow him back as she was with Stormzy.

'Even when she split with Stormzy it’s not something Maya wanted to pursue and she has left it.'

Drake's jibe on rapper Headie One’s track Only You Freestyle comes after Stormzy declared that he still 'wholeheartedly' loves Maya earlier this year.

The source added that, as its clear both men are interested in the beauty, things could get 'messy'.

Maya previously opened up about her split from Stormzy, saying she didn't let it get her down.

Speaking on the TTYA Talks podcast, she said: 'I was in a relationship for nearly five years and I’ve had a new lease of excitement.

Drake is known as a ladies' man and has previously dated the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna.

According to The Sun, Drake and Stormzy have never seen eye to eye and his reference to Maya in the new track was a deliberate jibe.

A source said that Drake has 'no time' for the rapper and has no intentions of building any bridges with him.

Maya and Stormzy split in August 2019 after four years together, but he admitted he has 'never loved anyone how I've loved her' in a YouTube interview with Charlamagne tha God in January.

'She's a f***ing G, bro,' the grime star said of his ex. 'I love her wholeheartedly. I've never loved anyone how I've loved her.'

The radio host asked if he thought the pair could ever reconcile, to which he responded: 'I would love for that to happen but I don't know...

'I would love to be the man who she needs, I would love to do all the things that make this work. I want to marry her, I want to have her children.

Stormzy and Maya started dating in January 2015 after meeting the previous year.

The former couple split last summer, claiming they had parted ways to focus on their respective careers, with Maya moving out of the home they shared in south-west London.

On his album track Lessons, Stormzy said the way he treated Maya was his 'biggest of regrets' and admitted he poured the greatest love he ever knew down the drain when they split.
