Jack in the Box video of cup size experiment goes viral

A Jack in the Box employee may have exposed a scam in the fast food industry related to the size of cups - but hesitant social media users don't quite know how to react.

Twitter user @rayMond posted a viral video this week showing what appears to be the same amount of liquid filling three different-sized cups at the US fast food chain.

But the video has quickly caused uproar on social media as baffled users desperately try to figure out how the employee could carry out what they are describing as an optical illusion.

The employee, who hails from Houston, Texas, filmed himself pouring a small-sized cup of soda into a medium cup.

He then takes the medium one and pours the soda into large-sized cup.

Bizarrely, each cup appears to be completely full from the same amount of liquid.

Social media sleuths immediately had a field day trying to figure out the truth behind his so-called experiment.

Many skeptical users claimed there was liquid already in the largest cup and demanded for the employee to show his trick in reverse given how different the sizes were.

'How do we know there wasn't already soda in there that we couldn't see?' one Twitter user wrote.

The employee then humored viewers by pouring a full cup of soda from the large cup into the smaller size.

Some were still skeptical and called the employee out for not showing the larger cup in full view when he was pouring.

A number of fellow Jack in the Box employees then filmed themselves carrying out the experiment - and they seemingly proved the original poster's video was a hoax.

Their large cups were only filled up to about half-way at the end of their experiments.
