What Prince William & Kate Middleton Think Of Prince Harry's Engagement Is Absolutely Heartwarming

Considering the huge news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged, all eyes have turned to England. The announcement itself is exciting enough, but what do Prince William and Kate Middleton think of Prince Harry's engagement? The elder son and his now-wife were in the very same position just a few years ago, so their opinion is highly sought-after.

Soon after the happy announcement was made on Monday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge put out their own statement, saying, "We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together."

The royal couple has had a little over a year to get to know the American actress. The Suits star first began dating Prince Harry in Summer 2016 after they were introduced in London by mutual friends. And although the 33-year old Prince didn't confirm their relationship publicly until November 2016, he was likely a great deal more forthcoming with his family. During a brief appearance in Kensington Palace's Sunken Garden to show off the ring on Monday, Prince Harry was asked by reporters when he knew that the 36-year old actress was the one. The BBC reports that the young royal answered, "the very first time we met," so his brother and sister-in-law likely knew early on that things were serious.

And although the rest of us found out about the engagement on Nov. 27, it's clear from the official Clarence House statement that question actually got popped a bit before. As it stated:

"His Royal Highness [Prince Henry of Wales] and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty the Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle's parents."

Since the pace of the engagement doesn't match their own, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have likely appreciated the extra time to get to know their future fellow royal. Prince William and Kate Middleton got engaged in November 2010 — wow, this family really has a thing for November, huh? — after eight years of dating. That's a long time, but especially compared to the year and fourth months that it took for Prince Harry to be sure. (When you know, you know, right?)

But just like his brother to follow, once the engagement was official, Prince William wasted no time in setting a date for the wedding.
