So much for summer! UK is likely to see a thunderstorms
The UK will be battered by heavy rain and thundery storms this weekend as the British summer remains a damp washout.
Most parts of Britain will be unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain breaking up the short sunny intervals with the north and Scotland seeing temperatures drop to 14 degrees.
On Sunday, thunder will hit the UK with the Met Office warning that 'any part of the UK' is likely to see a storm.
It comes as blustery showers will continue across Scotland and Northern Ireland this evening while strong winds and heavy rain will affect other parts in the north.
Tomorrow will see a 'bright start for many' before the rain returns and becomes 'heavy and persistent'.
And today, two women in Liverpool were spotted using their coats to shield themselves from the rain as locals were in a hurry to use their umbrellas during a downpour.
After the thunderstoms predicted for Sunday, there will be fewer showers on Monday and Tuesday as the UK will see drier and brighter spells.
Nicola Maxey, a Met Office spokeswoman, told MailOnline: 'In the south there will be rain this evening that will gradually clear as we go through to Saturday.
As we go into Sunday, it will remain unsettled because there will be sunny spells and showers for the north.
'As you go further south, again there will be showers and sunny spells but also thundery storms for most parts of the UK.
'There is a risk that any part of the UK will see a thunderstom this weekend.'

With his gap-toothed grin and cheeky expression, it is clear that Prince George is growing up fast. Two pictures of the future king have been released by Kensington Palace to mark his seventh birthday today. Gone are his chubby cheeks and the frilled Peter Pan-collar shirts that his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, so loved to dress him in as a toddler and beyond. Instead we see a little boy, tousled blond hair swept aside and grinning, wearing a camouflage green T-shirt. An appropriate choice given he will one day inherit his great-grandmother’s mantle as Head of the Armed Forces. George is already said to be obsessed with helicopters like his father. In another picture he is wearing a favourite olive green polo shirt and shorts. The pictures were taken by his mother Kate at the family’s Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, where George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte, five, and two-year-old Prince Louis, have spent lockdown. Kate and Prince William are planning a party for ...
