A Scottish Muay Thai boxer was found dead after suffering a suspected heat stroke while exercising in a heavy sweat suit in Thailand.

Jordan Donald was found dead by police in the Muang district of Nakhon Ratchasima on Sunday, a day after leaving his hotel without returning.

While Police identified the boxer as Jordan Donald, he boxed under the name Jordan Lamnammoon and went by Jordan Coe on Facebook.

The boxer, who is believed to be 22, was wearing a thick sweat suit when he left his hotel and was hoping to lose 3kg so he could meet the 61kg wieght class for a bout on Sunday.

The hotel owner said that Mr Donald, of Maddiston, Scotland, left his hotel around 11.30am on Saturday but never returned.

Temperatures were in the mid 30s (90s Fahrenheit) on Saturday afternoon in Thailand, with a high of 37 degrees Celsius (98 degrees Fahrenheit).

Doctors who performed a preliminary autopsy believed that Mr Donald suffered shock to his system due to severe dehydration after jogging in the extreme heat.

A detailed autopsy will be performed to determine an official cause of death, Police Captain Prachakorn Promduang, of the Pho Klang Police Station told the Bangkok Post.

Mr Donald was scheduled to fight Cambodian boxer Khon Bola in the Sa-ngam Asean fight on Sunday at a venue in Muang district's Wat Pong Din Sor.

In the days before his death, Mr Donald expressed his love of boxing on Facebook.

'When times get hard. Think of where you started and look where you are now,' he posted on Thursday. 'Surprises me everytime.'

In another post he wrote: 'Loving the constant fighting each month. Almost three years living in Thailand and with each year, I always learn more and more. Thank you to my team, family, friends and fans for always helping me on my journey.'

Mr Donald, who was part of the Lamnammoon Sor Sumalee Gym in Ubon Ratchathani, was known as the 'dancing boxer'.

The young athlete would dance his way into the ring in a traditional northeastern dance and was played in by a kean - a woodwind instrument - before he started a bout.

Lamnammoon Sor Sumalee Gym owner Kukrit Kamolrit said Mr Donald had been in 70 fights, 15 since last year when he moved to the gym.
