Kate Middleton looks stunning in a floor length floral gown as she joins Samantha Cameron, Alexa Chu

THE Duchess of Cambridge looked gorgeous in green last night as she attended a gala dinner at the National Portrait Gallery.



The 35-year-old teamed a gold snakeskin clutch bag with a glamourous forest green floor length gown by Temperley London – one of her favourite designers.



She attended the 2017 Portrait Gala, as she has been patron of the gallery since 2012, and was treated to two exhibitions as well as specially commissioned masks by the likes of Dame Vivienne Westwood and Philip Treacy.



Kate was joined by a host of celebrities at the gala, including Alexa Chung, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Samantha Cameron.



Alexa Chung proved her fashionista credentials in an unusual off-the-shoulder polka dot dress, while Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Samantha Cameron both opted for brightly coloured outfits.



Kate chatted easily to the gala’s guests and looked particularly delighted to meet Alexa Chung.



After meeting guests who helped make the evening possible, she then sat down for dinner.



This is the second gala that Kate will have attended and, as in previous years, the funds raised will support the National Portrait Gallery’s work in delivering exhibitions and displays, offering learning opportunities and undertaking research.



This year’s gala is fundraising for Coming Home a project that returns iconic portraits on loan to places that are special to them, such as the Brontë sisters to Yorkshire.



The engagement follows the news that the Duchess will make a solo visit to Luxembourg on May 11 to attend events celebrating the 1867 Treaty of London, at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.



The trip will be the Duchess’s second official solo overseas visit, following her successful trip to the Netherlands last October.
