Yogis wave their stomachs in Nauli Instagram videos

Instagram is filled with photos of people performing seemingly-impossible exercises, but one niche yoga move is having its moment — and leaving many to wonder how others are able to roll their stomachs in that way.

Nauli, an abdominal yoga exercise that involves revolving the stomach left and right in a circular motion, is rarely taught because of how challenging it is for people to master the difficult move.

However, videos of yogis who have perfected the toning and cleansing exercise have prompted many people to ask 'what the f**k' they are watching.

Last week, the Yoga Instagram page regrammed a clip of Aubry Wiltcher performing the jaw-dropping move, and in total, it has been viewed more than one million times.

According to Cosmopolitan.com, Aubry, a 29-year-old yoga instructor from San Diego, California, says nauli is 'nothing short of a blissful massage for your internal organs.'

The video sees her dramatically sucking her abdomen in before isolating her muscle contractions to make it look like her stomach is moving in a wave.

'That's incredible! I've never heard of nauli, terrific for some Google research,' one person commented, while another added: 'This is creepy.'

Some people who have been been able to do the move for years admitted that they had no idea it was a yoga technique, including one person who asked: 'Wait wtf other ppl can do my secret talent?'

Of course, Aubry is just one of many yogi using the hashtag #nauli to show off her incredible skills.

Mira Chesnaya, a yogi from the Ukraine, recently shared an equally inspiring Instagram clip that sees her rapidly contracting her stomach muscles — and the practice does more than just look cool on camera.

The Nauli.org website says practice of the difficult yoga exercise 'kindles a weak gastric fire, restores the digestion, always brings happiness, and dries up all defects and diseases.'

To pull off the move, you first have to empty your lungs and pull your abdomen in and up under the rib cage, and Nauli.org states that it is 'very important' to only attempt this exercise on an empty stomach.

In order to create the wave-like movement, you have to master isolated contraction of the abdominal muscles on both the left and right sides before revolving the stomach from side to side.

However, budding yogis should be warned that the advanced practice does leave risk for injury, and the site notes that it is best to have an experience yoga instructor teach you how to do it properly.
