UFC news Conor McGregor boxes for Floyd Mayweather fight

Conor McGregor took over a session at his Straight Blast Gym training base in Dublin and there are no prizes for guessing what was being drilled.



The Irishman continues to practice his boxing as a mooted fight against Floyd Mayweather appears close.



In a video shared by his coach John Kavanagh, McGregor can be seen shadow boxing with another training partner.

He then moves away and patrols the mat whilst his other students perform a series of shadow movements and routines.



Kavanagh is renowned for his work with McGregor having trained him in mixed martial arts from the infancy of his career.



The coach added the caption to his Instagram post, 'One of our fighters taking the boxing class today'.



The UFC champion's moves certainly look a little slicker than they did back in December, when he was filmed sparring with former IBO welterweight champion Chris Van Heerdan.



McGregor was caught regularly by his rival and looked ungainly as he looked to master the art of the sweet science. Scroll down to see the video.

Despite being new to the sport, the Dubliner has continued to chase a fight with Floyd Mayweather which could, if agreed, become one of the most lucrative bouts of all time.



Both men have spoken of their desire to finalise a deal though there are significant financial obstacles to overcome in the negotiations.



The UFC's involvement in any potential deal appears to be a tripping point, with McGregor still contracted to four more fights for the organisation.



If his continued commitment to boxing training is anything to go by, the lightweight champion is still hopeful a compromise will be reached.
