Winter Olympics Latvian figure skater's catsuit wins fans





A Latvian figure skater has won a legion of fans at the Winter Olympics after shunning a frilly costume for her short programme routine.



Diana Nikitina, 17, wowed viewers with her 'mean' black sequin catsuit as she performed to Sade's Soldier of Love in Pyeongchang on Wednesday morning.



Fans quickly took to social media to praise her outfit, along with her choice of song,  as she competed in the figure skating contest.



Diana scored a personal best with her routine, after landing a triple lutz and triple toe loop.





Sadly, the teenager narrowly missed out when it came to qualifying for the free skating final, after finishing in 26th place.



Nevertheless, fans were delighted by Diana's performance, which they said 'stole the show'.





Meanwhile, one fan commented: 'can I get Diana Nikitina's short program costume omg I'M IN LOVE'.



Others were completely won over by her choice of song: Sade's Soldier of Love.



One fan wrote: '"Soldier of Love" by Sade is THE exact song I wold want to skate to in my Olympic short program if I was a skater, music selection on POINT'.



Another added: 'Yes girl Diana Nikitina from the #Olympics who figure skated to #Sade'.



While Diana failed to make the top 24, Russian figure skaters Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva finished in first and second place following the short program.



The Latvian teenager's choice of outfit today comes after two of her fellow figure skaters suffered wardrobe malfunctions earlier in the week.



French ice dancer Gabriella Papadakis, 22, suffered a 'nip slip' when her glittering green costume unfastened while performing with her partner, Guillaume Cizeron, 23, on Monday.



Meanwhile, South Korean figure skater Yura Min, 22,  also suffered a wardrobe malfunction when her low-cut red top threatened to reveal too much to spectators during her and partner Alexander Gamelin's short dance routine.
