Winter Olympics 2018 Watch Joel Gisler plunge 15 FEET in BRUTAL crash during halfpipe run 



Gisler was competing during the second run in the halfpipe qualifying when he crash landed on the lip of the halfpipe.



The 23-year-old skier came down with such a force, he knocked both his skis off before plunging into the pipe headfirst below.



Gisler lay motionless after he crash landed and medics were quickly on scene to treat the young skier.



But staggeringly after several minutes, the Swiss was able to get to his feet and walk out of the pipe, with assistance from medical staff.



After scoring 59.80 on his first run, Gisler was under pressure to up his game in his second attempt.



But after starting strongly landing an impressive backward spin opening his second run, the eyewatering crash ended his hopes of progressing to the final

Judges did award Gisler 9.80 for his second attempt but it was nowhere near the score needed to qualify.



He finished 18th behind Team GB pair Murray Buchan and Peter Speight who also failed to qualify for the final.



US trio Aaron Blunck, Alex Ferreira and Torin Yater-Wallace finished in the top three with best scores of 94.40, 92.60 and 89.60 respectively.
