Who is Stefan Karl Stefansson and where is he from?



Stefan Karl Stefansson is an Icelandic actor born on 10 July 1975 in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland.



He graduation from drama school from The Icelandic Academy of Arts in Reykjavik and then gathered acting experience after working with the National Theatre of Iceland.



He currently lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife – Icelandic actress, TV host and writer Steinunn Olina Porsteinsdottir.



The couple married on 29 December 2002 and have four children together – three daughters and one son.

From 2004 to 2014, Stefan Karl Stefansson played Robbie Rotten on the Nickelodeon children’s TV show LazyTown (which also aired on CBeebies).



The show was a musical comedy education show that saw Stefan’s Robbie trying to thwart the LazyTown residents plans to engage in physical activities.



Stefan enjoyed success in a number of Icelandic television shows – and also provided voice acting in the 2006 big screen comedy Night at the Museum.



When did Stefan Karl Stefansson get diagnosed with cancer?



In October 2016, Stefan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer – leading to a GoFundMe campaign being set up to help raise funds to cover Stefan’s living costs after he became too ill to work.



In May 2017, Stefan’s wife revealed that Stefan’s cancer had relapsed and he had two masses removed from his liver.



On 21 June 2017, Steinunn updated fans to reveal the cancer had again spread and Stefans chances of survival were greatly reduced, adding via Facebook: “We know that time is now more precious than never, and we have decided to enjoy it, while having the chance… It is unbearable for us to tell our children that their father will not be an old man and that the time we have together is very short.”
