Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller is being sued for assault by one of her former students, 13-year-old Paige Hyland.

In the complaint obtained by People, the teenager claims the 48-year-old 'intentionally engaged in conduct that caused Plaintiff Paige Hyland to reasonably believe that she was about to be touched or harmed in an offensive manner.'

On the Lifetime reality series Miller is known for her tirades and demanding attitude as owner of the Abby Lee Dance Co.

The lawsuit further states, 'Paige Hyland reasonably feared she would be physically injured because she had observed Miller physically batter other people on the show including physically pushing [mother] Kelly Hyland’s face, pinching another student until she bled and violently grabbing another student by the arm.'

The budding dancer claims to suffer from anxiety and panic attacks following her various appearances on the popular show and has had to seek treatment for the alleged abuse.

Paige's lawsuit also purports that the show's producers allowed the volatile environment at the dance studio to continue because it made for good television.

'All of this was a part of a deliberate scheme by the producers to generate interest in the television show and strong ratings when each episode airs,' the complaint states.

According to Deadline, Paige is seeking a variety of unspecified 'economic and special damages according to proof at trial' of more than $25,000.

Earlier this year, Paige's mother Kelly Hyland sued Abby for $5 million after they got into a physical altercation during a dance rehearsal in November 2013.

The incident was filmed and aired during an episode of Dance Moms in February.

Paige and Kelly Hyland previously starred in 75 episodes of the show - which is currently in its fourth season - but no longer appear on the programme.
