The Man In The Satin Robe, Founder Of Playboy Magazine Hugh Hefner Passes Away At 91

The Original Playboy is no more!

The founder of world-renowned Playboy magazine, Hugh Hefner, has passed away at the age of 91



Contrary to public belief, Hefner helped bring sex from the bedroom to the dinner table, causing a sexual revolution of sorts in the 1960s, a time when open discussions about such things were considered as taboo.

With his out-of-the-box magazine and groundbreaking ideas, Hefner managed to build an empire for himself out of his passion.



Just to lighten up little memories about him, he even starred in “The Girls Next Door,” a TV reality show that aired from 2005 through 2010, which somewhat deciphered his life for us.



Even up till now, Hefner remained fit and exercised his way through old age. “I‘m never going to grow up, staying young is what it is all about for me. Holding on to the boy and long ago I decided that age really didn’t matter and as long as the ladies ... feel the same way, that’s fine with me.” Hefner told CNN in an interview at the age of 82.



Hefner's Playboy came as a revolution back in those days. The magazine, which was the first stylish glossy men’s magazine had an intellectual appeal too, along with all the nude fold-outs.

Some of the world's top writers such as Kurt Vonnegut, Joyce Carol Oates, Vladimir Nabokov, James Baldwin and Alex Haley vested their faith in it and claimed that they just did not buy it for pictures.



I’ve never thought of Playboy quite frankly as a sex magazine,” Hefner told CNN in 2002. “I always thought of it as a lifestyle magazine in which sex was one important ingredient.”
