Selena Gomez splits from The Weeknd after 10 months



Selena Gomez has split from boyfriend of 10 months, The Weeknd.



The news broke on Monday morning by People magazine that claimed the two had been having trouble for 'months' because of their difficult schedules - while he has been on tour, she was filming a Woody Allen movie A Rainy Day In New York in NYC.



The timing is interesting as in the past week the Fetish singer, 25, has been spotted with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber three times. On Sunday they were seen getting a vegan breakfast together in LA.



And on Monday morning the Cold Water hit maker was spotted leaving the beauty's LA home in his white Mercedes-Benz G-class.



'She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship,' an insider told People. 'It’s been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn’t easy on them.'



It was added that while the pinup made an effort to see the Starboy singer while he as touring, it was not enough. 'It’s been hard for them to come to the realization that this is the direction things were heading, but it’s been hard for months.'



It may have been hard for him to see Gomez kissing her co-star Timothée Chalamet several times as she filmed A Rainy Day In New York.



The couple went public in January when they were spotted being affectionate outside of Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California.



Since then they have been seen together at the Met Gala in May and the Harper's Bazaar Icons event, both in NYC. She was last seen with him at his September 16 concert in Philadelphia.





In the image of Justin and Selena, the two stars are seen sitting opposite each other, Justin's head covered in a white hooded sweatshirt.



Selena is seen in a striped sundress as she sits with her elbows on the table talking to her former flame. Both singers have a coffee drink and a bottle of water in front of them.



While they were not seen being affectionate with each other, they did seem to be close as they faced each other. 



It's the third sighting of the exes hanging out in recent weeks, as Justin was also seen visiting Selena at her home last Sunday, staying until around midnight.



Though it is now known she is no longer dating The Weeknd - whose real name is Abel Tesfaye - as recently as Sunday evening it was claimed that the singer 'doesn't care' that the former flames are hanging out.



One source told TMZ that 27-year-old 'is well aware Selena and Justin are talking,' while another said that the Toronto native 'doesn’t think Selena talking to Justin again is weird at all' and 'doesn’t care.'



A third insider said that The Weekend 'has been on tour and she’s been traveling back and forth to LA, but they are 100 percent still on.'



That doesn't seem to be the case now.



The timing appears to be perfect for Selena and Justin to get back together.





And Bieber is no doubt relishing Gomez's single status as he has for two years been trying to get back together with Selena.



He also has made fun of Weeknd, putting down his music in videos shared by TMZ. It was clear the former YouTube star was not happy the artist was dating his teen love.



Justin and Selena have been on better terms after Selena underwent a kidney transplant this past summer, getting a kidney from her close friend, TV actress Francia Raisa.



On Monday she talked to the Today show about her ordeal.





'Selena is simply trying to make peace with Justin after her illness,' a source told US Weekly on Wednesday. 'He has been great to her since her surgery and they are on good terms right now.'



The duo famously dated between the years of 2011 and 2014, and a bit of tension revealed itself in the summer of 2016 when they bickered on Instagram, ultimately leading Justin to deactivate his account for six months.



But things have softened since then, as the insider told the publication that the former Disney diva and Canadian pop sensation 'got back in touch recently through their friends and have seen each other at church.'



Another insider said that 'Justin and Selena recently started speaking,' noting that the 'church they go to' - the celebrity-laden Hillsong Church - was the common bond that reunited the former lovers.





'The community there is pretty tight knit and Justin and Selena have a lot of mutual friends who brought them back together,' the insider said of the church.



Other members are Kourtney Kardashian, Hailey Baldwin and Hailee Steinfeld.



Bieber has reportedly dated both Kourtney and Hailey.
