X Factor Nicole Scherzinger 'My contestants won't win'

She led Matt Terry to victory on the hit talent show last year. 

But Nicole Scherzinger, who narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction on Saturday night's X Factor, has admitted she doesn't believe anyone in her category will win. 

The former Pussycat Doll, 39, certainly got the viewers' vote as she opened the show in a thigh-skimming metallic frock in which she performed an elaborate spin, but was less sure her contestants would do the same.

Showcasing her shapely pins, elongated by a pair of black killer heels, Nicole slipped into a gold mini dress as she joined co-judges Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh on stage - although Simon Cowell was absent due to his recent foot injury.

The glitzy dress boasted a high-low hemline, but was slashed dangerously high on her hip, causing her to grab a stray piece of material to cover her modesty as she spun around on stage. 

Styling out her dramatic entrance, she looked on in mock horror as she covered her pert posterior, before scampering off towards the judges' panel.  

The show marked a huge revamp of the format, which will see viewers in full control of which contestants leave. And this factor may be worrying the competitive judge, who opened up about her fears for her 'Overs' category. 

Speaking to Daily Star's Big TV magazine, she revealed her doubts over her mentees winning the show again.

'I am very competitive and I put a million per cent into everything I do. But two years in a row I don't know about that,' she said.

'I have a feeling of somebody that is going to win but they are not in my category,' she added.

And she appeared to express her annoyance at being landed with the Overs category, adding: 'I'm upset because the producers were going to give me a category and I said, 'No, I want this one instead'.

Appearing to admit defeat, she concluded: 'I got what I wanted, but I really should have had what they were going to give me,' adding: 'Everything happens for a reason.'
