KATE MIDDLETON JUST GAVE BIRTH TO A LITTLE PRINCE—AND HE’S ALREADY MAKING HISTORY

Hear ye, hear ye: Kensington Palace is getting a new resident. Kate Middleton welcomed her third child with Prince William—a baby boy—into the world this morning. (AKA your Monday just got a whole lot better—and cuter. Because #babies.)

According to a press release, the new prince was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in London and weighs 8 pounds, 7 ounces. And it goes without saying that once he officially comes home, just in time for Mother’s Day and the royal wedding, his big brother and sister—George and Charlotte—are going to love having another sibling to spend time with. What’s especially cool, though, is the little prince has already made history.

Time reports that he’s the first newborn in the immediate royal family to be affected by the Succession to the Crown Act, which changed the rules of succession to the British throne so it’s based on age rather than gender. Because of that, Charlotte won’t be bumped down the line to the throne just because she has a younger brother. In the ultimate #girlpower move, she’ll remain in succession right after George, then the newest royal will be behind her.

The littlest royal, whose name has not yet been released, might not retain that title for too long, though: It’s been reported that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are excited to start a brood of their own.
