Trump chooses Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' for first dance

Donald Trump and Melania's first dance at the inaugural ball is expected to be to Frank Sinatra's 'My Way'.
Trump plans to take the floor as president at the Liberty Ball just as Nashville-based jazz singer Erin Boehme delivers the opening song, 'Mack the Knife'.
Boehme and two other unidentified artists will then perform 'My Way', according to the Washington Examiner.


'My Way' was written by Paul Anka who was asked to perform it during the inauguration celebrations but says he can't due to a scheduling conflict. The song was made popular by Sinatra in 1969.

Trump will attend three inaugural galas this weekend after he takes the Oath of Office on Friday.
The Freedom Ball is the largest of the three he is expected to attend; he will also be at the Salute to Our Armed Services Ball.
Trump's inauguration planner, Tom Barrack, said last week that the president-elect wants the inauguration to 'be about the people' instead of a 'circus-like celebration that's a coronation.'

Both the Liberty and Freedom balls will be open to the public, though closed to media not part of the press pool.
Tickets will cost $50 each - significantly lower than the hundreds of dollars previous ones have cost.
Liberty and Freedom will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center both on the evening of Friday, January 20.

Though they're held in the same building, they are two separate events occurring at the same time on different floors of the convention center.
Performers and singers at the galas include Sam Moore, Tim Rushlow and His Big Band, Silhouettes, the Rockettes, Pelican212, The Piano Guys, Circus 1903, Cache Olson and Lexi Walker.
When asked whether the Sinatra family was 'okay' with Trump using 'My Way' at the inaugural gala, Nancy Sinatra tweeted: 'Just remember the first line of the song.'
The first line? 'And now, the end is near.'
It goes on to tell a story of regret, love, laughter, and tears, all while overcoming life's obstacles, ending each verse with, 'I did it my way.'
