Molly McLaren, 2/CCTV footage shows Molly McLaren's final moments/Ex-boy...

CCTV footage shows Molly McLaren's final moments

Chilling footage has emerged of the moments before and after a university student was stabbed to de*th by her ex-boyfriend in a gym car park.

Molly McLaren, 23, had grown increasingly concerned about Joshua Stimpson following her around and posting messages about her online after they broke up last summer.

Despite having been given a warning by police, Stimpson followed her to the gym and stabbed her to de*th in her car two weeks after they split.

The jury in the case were today shown CCTV footage of Miss McLaren's last moments, as she worked out in a gym in Chatham, Kent.

Stimpson is seen prowling around in the staircase of the fitness centre, before entering the exercise room where she is working out.

Miss McLaren is seen appearing to speak to him, and the court has heard she asked him: 'Are you following me now?'

Prosecutors said she then messaged her mother, who told her to come straight home, and WhatsApped her friends, saying: 'Feel like I'm f****** looking over my shoulder all the time'.

Minutes later, Stimpson attacked her in the car park and she died from her stab wounds.

He now admits manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility but denies murder.

The jury were also shown footage of him with his gym kit stained in blood as he is arrested by police.

As CCTV of the car park shortly before the attack was shown, prosecutor Philip Bennetts said: 'By this time the defendant must have been watching her, waiting for her to come out.

'Waiting as he drives slowly along, waiting for the moment that he has carefully considered to k*ll her.'

He added: 'It's a matter for you whether he has, from the purchasing of the knife to going there (the gym) that day, because he must have known she would be there, whether he has carefully considered that execution of Molly.'

Prosecutors believe Stimpson, from Wouldham, near Rochester, Kent, had been monitoring Miss McLaren's social media posts in order to pinpoint her location and stalk her.

In messages to a relative, she said he was 'manipulative and turning nasty', adding: 'I am actually scared about what he might do. I'm scared he might hurt me. I don't know how on edge he is.'

Benjamin Morton bravely tried to pull Stimpson off his victim and even slammed his leg in the car door to stop him. But Stimpson moved inside the car and continued the attack.

Mr Morton later told police Stimpson was 'continuously' stabbing her in the head and neck, adding: 'It was like a frenzy, he was doing it again and again'.

It is alleged Stimpson, who met Molly on Tinder, had been following her in the days after their break-up on June 17.

He had joined another gym where she had applied for a receptionist's job and turning up in a bar she was drinking in with friends the evening before she died.

CCTV footage of Stimpson purchasing the paring knife at Asda two days before the alleged murder was played at Maidstone Crown Court yesterday.

The trial continues.

Stimpson's ex-girlfriends tell jurors how he became a 'stalker' and threatened to follow one g*rl on holiday and 'drown' her

Two women who dated a man who went on to stab his ex-girlfriend to death in a shopping centre car park have told a court about his 'strange behaviour'.

On Wednesday Alexandra Dale and Leah Hubbard both told the court about their previous experiences with Stimpson.

Ms Hubbard, dated Stimpson briefly in 2016, and said she went on to refer to him as her 'stalker'.

She said she broke things off with him after his behaviour started to make her feel 'uncomfortable'.

Ms Hubbard told the court she was in a club in Maidstone with friends after she decided not to see Stimpson again when he 'spat a drink all over me'.

Stimpson was thrown out of the club by a bouncer at around midnight but when Ms Hubbard left the venue some five hours later, he was sitting outside.

She added: 'I felt like he was waiting for me.'

In another episode he knocked on her flat window at 2am claiming his phone needed charging.

Ms Dale met Stimpson at a pub in 2013 after six months of texts and calls. She said he told her not to speak to any men or male friends as 'he didn't like it'.

She said he used to 'follow' her without her knowledge, taking pictures and asking her why she was 'wearing certain clothes'.

'(The pictures) came as a surprise to me, I didn't even know he was in the same club as me,' Ms Dale said.

She once received a picture of her back garden, despite not telling Stimpson where she lived. And once as she was about to go on holiday messaged her saying: 'I'm going to fly out and drown you.'

She contacted police about his behaviour, after which the messages stopped.

'I feel completely numb and broken': Molly's mother tells of heartbreak as she reveals her daughter was becoming 'increasingly anxious' before d*ath

The court heard that Ms McLaren had contacted police more than once worried by posts he had made about her online.
