Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden celebrates her name day at Palace


Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria was presented with flowers outside Stockholm's Royal Palace today, in honour of her name day. 

In Sweden many names are associated with certain dates on the calendar - March 12 in the case of the name Victoria - and Swedes often mark their name day just like they would a birthday.  

Victoria, the eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and heir apparent to the Swedish throne, beamed for the cameras as she posed alongside her husband Prince Daniel and their six-year-old daughter, Estelle.  

The royal, 40, opted for a stylish black fur-trimmed trench coat embellished with gold buttons for the occasion

Continuing her wintry theme, Victoria teamed the coat with a pair of leather gloves and added height to her frame with knee high boots.  

Victoria, who was not joined by two-year-old son Oscar, injected a splash of colour with her purple blouse visible beneath her coat.


The royal looked delighted as she accepted flowers from wellwishers, joined by her dapper husband, a former personal trainer.

As well as posing for pictures, the family admired the military marches performed by the King’s Guards in celebration of the day dedicated to her name. 

The eldest of two children, Victoria married former personal trainer Daniel Westerling in 2010 after a long-term relationship, and they are now parents to Oscar, two, and Estelle, six. 

Last year Victoria opened up about the eating disorder she suffered as a 20-year-old model in 1997.

Speaking to People, in a milestone interview ahead of her 40th birthday last July, she said: 'I wanted all the time to do and be so much more than I realistically could do, or could be,' she said.

'I needed time to sort things out and get my balance back again.

'I needed to get to know myself, discover where my limits were, not constantly push myself too much.'
