Grace Kelly's granddaughter Charlotte Casiraghi announces her engagement
Grace Kelly's glamorous granddaughter appeared to confirm her engagement to her film producer boyfriend as she joined Monaco's high society at a charity ball last night.
Charlotte Casiraghi, 31, daughter of Princess Caroline of Hanover, looks set to tie the knot with the dashing Dimitri Rassam, 36, after a whirlwind year-long romance.
The couple looked the picture of happiness as they arrived for the annual Rose Ball in Monte Carlo, with Charlotte debuting a glittering diamond on her ring finger.
Caroline, 61, who is married to Prince Ernst August of Hanover, looked delighted by the news, beaming as she arrived for the black tie event with fashion designer Karl Largerfeld.
Charlotte's brother, Pierre Casiraghi, 30, and her half-sister, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, 18, also attended.
The engagement comes just a week after Charlotte's step-brother, Prince Christian of Hanover, tied the knot with his fashion designer fiancee Alessandra de Osma in an extravagant two-day wedding in her native Peru.
But the royal family returned to Monaco in time for the Rose Ball, one of the highlight's of the nation's social calendar.
The event, which is in its 64th year, benefits the Princess Grace Foundation, named after the late actress and royal.
All eyes were on Charlotte as she arrived on the arm of her fiance.
Hola! reported the couple were engaged earlier this month, however this is the first time Charlotte and Dimitri have confirmed the speculation, according to sister publication Hello!
The couple are reportedly keen to marry quickly and are planning to wed in a ceremony this summer.
There is speculation they could marry in Sicily, where Dimitri's mother, French actress Carole Bouquet, owns a villa. Bouquet is a long-time friend of Caroline.
Charlotte, who has inherited her actress grandmother's striking good looks, made a statement in a bold black and white Yves Saint Laurent creation last night.
The classic black velvet column dress was dominated by a feathered one-shoulder strap.
She kept the rest of her look simple, opting for a small black leather handbag with chain strap and tying her brunette locks up in a sleek high-fashion up-do.
The slight quiff at the front of her hair added a touch of playful edge to the otherwise elegant ensemble.
Meanwhile Princess Caroline, who married Prince Ernst of Hanover following the de*th of Charlotte's father, Stefano Casiraghi, opted for a softer look in a tiered powder pink dress.
The mother-of-four teamed the flirty frock with a pair of rose pink velvet shoes, metallic silver clutch and an oversized starfish necklace.
The light tiers of the mid-length gown swished elegantly as she entered the Monte Carlo Sporting Club, accompanied by Largerfeld, 84, the event's designer.
Other guests included Swedish model Victoria Silvstedt, 43, who opted for a strapless white and n*de gown and producer Monica Bacardi.
She spent lockdown in London where she pined to travel the world once again. And Demi Rose put on a scintillating display as she headed to the beach in Ibiza in a completely sheer mesh PrettyLittleThing swimsuit on Tuesday. With his gap-toothed grin and cheeky expression, it is clear that Prince George is growing up fast. Two pictures of the future king have been released by Kensington Palace to mark his seventh birthday today. Gone are his chubby cheeks and the frilled Peter Pan-collar shirts that his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, so loved to dress him in as a toddler and beyond. Instead we see a little boy, tousled blond hair swept aside and grinning, wearing a camouflage green T-shirt. An appropriate choice given he will one day inherit his great-grandmother’s mantle as Head of the Armed Forces. George is already said to be obsessed with helicopters like his father. In another picture he is wearing a favourite olive green polo shirt and shorts. The pictures were taken by his mother Kate at the family’s Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, where George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte, five, and two-year-old Prince Louis, have spent lockdown. Kate and Prince William are planning a party for ...
