Duchess of Cornwall hosts International Women’s Day reception

A beaming Duchess of Cornwall welcomed a host of female stars and politicians to Clarence House for a reception to mark International Women's Day today.

Camilla, 70, met Annie Lennox, Mary Portas and Kathy Lette as she held the event as part of her role as President of the Southbank Centre's Women of the World (WOW) Festival.

The royal looked chic in a black flocked jacket at the reception, which she teamed with a checked midi skirt and a pair of black boots.

Other guests included Labour MP Tulip Siddiq, Liberal Democrat deputy leader Jo Swinson, and the Southbank Centre's artistic director Jude Kelly.

Entrepreneur Liz Earle and actress Mona Hammond also attended today's event at Clarence House.

Camilla, who became president of WOW in 2015, described the Women of the World Festival as 'an astonishing creation'.

The global festival celebrates women and girls, and looks at the obstacles that stop them from achieving their potential.

The Duchess began her speech by welcoming 'ladies, and a smattering of very brave gentlemen' to her London home.

She continued: 'This year, WOW will take place in 53 countries across the world.

'It truly is a global festival dedicated to presenting work by women and promoting equality for women and girls.'

Speaking at the event, retail expert Mary Portas stressed the need for public support from high profile women to tackle inequality.
