The Queen welcomes the President of Estonia to Windsor Castle

Elegant in a cream dress, the Queen looked ready for spring as she welcomed the President of Estonia to Windsor Castle today.

But a closer look at photos of the meeting reveals how the monarch, 91, is still feeling the bite of the lingering winter chill.

For just feet away from where the Queen and President Kersti Kaljulaid shook hands was a simple grey fan heater, whirring away beneath an ornate console table

The plastic-cased appliance, which costs roughly £30 from the high street, can be seen in the background of several photos of the Queen and President Kaljulaid. 

Similar heaters have been seen in other rooms inside both Buckingham Palace and Balmoral, proving how the Queen is keen to keep her housekeeping costs to a minimum. 

President Kaljulaid, 48, is on a three-day visit to Britain and has already met with the Prime Minister and members of the Government.

Today she was received by the Queen at a private audience in one of the reception rooms of Windsor Castle. 

The Queen looked ready for spring in a simple mid-length shift dress, which she teamed with her black handbag and black heels. 

Meanwhile President Kaljulaid opted for a chic whit midi dress for the occasion. 

The room where the reception took place has previously hosted a number of notable visitors, including religious and political leaders.
