McDonald's is trolled for their new dark uniforms



People aren't lovin' McDonald's new dystopian, monochrome grey uniforms.

The Internet mercilessly trolled McDonald's after the chain tweeted a video showing the evolution of crew member uniforms on Thursday.

The look reminded a lot of people of the outfits worn by Imperial Officers on the Death Star in Star Wars.



The clothes are mostly totally void of the iconic bright yellow with some being complete 'groufits.'

The color palette looks like one Darth Vader would have approved, not Ronald McDonald.

This was especially the case with the photo of the employees wearing the aprons.

People also blasted the look online saying it looked like they were living in a dystopian novel like the Hunger Games.  

The ominous lighting of some of the photos made crew members look like they would ask customers to join the resistance instead of if they would like a Happy Meal.



The almost totally grey uniforms differed from the bright colors worn by crew members in the past.

The new look will be worn by nearly 850,000 restaurant employees according to a McDonald's press release.

Though the look was lampooned online, employees seem to like the upgrade. Almost 70 percent of restaurant employees surveyed felt the look was modern and they would be proud to wear the uniform.

Apocalypse-chic isn't a new look in the fashion industry.  Lucas Ossendrijver's Lanvin collection said he was inspired by the potential of a grim future and Kanye West's Yeezy lines have also evoked feelings of a dystopian novel.
