Hamerton Zoo in U K  evacuated, air ambulance responds to 'serious incident'







A zoo in England was evacuated Monday following reports of a "very serious incident," authorities said.



An air ambulance helicopter and other emergency crews responded to Hamerton Zoo Park in Cambridgeshire at 11:15 a.m. local time.



Police declined to release further details about the incident, but said in a statement that "no animals have escaped and members of the public are safe."



Magpas Air Ambulance also issued a statement, saying "everyone was safely evacuated, no one was running in terror, no animals escaped the enclosure and no children were injured."



The zoo — which has hundreds of animals, including tigers, monkeys and cheetahs — will remain closed for the rest of the day.
