Yorkshire Ripper Sutcliffe despised Moors Killer Ian Brady



The Yorkshire Ripper is said to have 'hated' Moors Murderer Ian Brady after the pair played one another at chess when they both served time at Wormwood Scrubs.

Peter Sutcliffe and Brady served time in the same jail, and Sutcliffe is alleged to have told a friend the Moors killer was a bad loser when it came to chess.

According to the Sunday People, Sutcliffe told a friend: 'I played chess with him and I beat him, so he’s not that bright.



'He was upset about that. He takes everything seriously and thinks he’s the bees knees, but he’s just an idiot.

'He had an air of kind of feeling as though he was very important. It was like he thought he was a snob.'

Sutcliffe was convicted of murdering 13 women, and attempting to murder seven others. He was sentenced to serve 20 concurrent life sentences, and an appeal was thrown out by the High Court in 2010.



Brady carried out five murders alongside accomplice Myra Hindley, sexually assaulting four of the children before he killed them.

But despite his own crimes, Sutcliffe is said to have thought Brady was 'sick'.

He's also warred with the murderer over who is more notorious, calling him 'pathetic' for thinking the Moors Murders were more infamous than the Yorkshire Ripper killings.

Brady died aged 79 from lung cancer at a secure mental health unit on May 15.
