NZ Police read mean tweets to stand up to bullying Video is hilariouss

WE thought NSW Police were the only ones with a sense of humour, but it turns out police across the ditch don’t mind laughing at themselves, either.

NZ Police got inspiration from television host Jimmy Kimmel’s “read mean tweets” segment and decided to give it a go for a video, which has started to go viral.

A number of police officers read tweets criticising them, which they found hilarious and also a bit harsh.

“Meanwhile in New Zealand it’s a slow news day and NZ Police are searching for tourists who s**t in a sidewalk gutter,” one tweet read.

The police officer could not contain his laughter at that one.

Another tweet read: “I ordered a Big Mac combo last week, asked for large but was only regular. Chips were stale and drink was gross too. NZ Police said they couldn’t do anything about it. Pathetic. Keep wasting your resources on unreal crime.”

One bearded police officer, who had obviously had a bad takeaway meal or two, sympathised with the agitated citizen, saying: “I feel your pain”.

Another officer wished a tweeter happy birthday after they posted a complaint.

“Received a fine for being six kilometres over the speed limit, thanks for the birthday present NZ Police. What a joke,” the tweet said.

Other citizens claimed the police did not do anything, while others poked fun at the team established to look after cyclists. Their social media posts were also criticised.

“If these guys have time to dress up a dog then someone is not doing his job,” one tweeted about a photo posted of a dolled up police dog.

Even the NZ Police Commissioner Mike Bush got in on the action.

“Is NZ Police Commissioner Mike Bush in any way related to US former president George Bush,” a tweeter asked.

Mr Bush said “my understanding is our families parted company some time in the 1600s”.

Meaner tweets called the police a “bunch of f***heads”.

The Waikato District Police posted the video of officers reading the tweets to stand up against bullying.
