OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN REVEALS CANCER DIAGNOSIS



Olivia Newton-John has revealed her breast cancer has returned and spread to her back.

The 68-year-old shared the news with fans while announcing she had 'reluctantly' postponed her June U.S. and Canadian concert tour dates.

She was first treated for breast cancer in 1992, at the age of 43. She underwent a partial mastectomy, chemotherapy and breast reconstruction.

A statement on her social media on Tuesday read: 'The back pain that initially caused her to postpone the first half of her concert tour, has turned out to be breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum.

'In addition to natural wellness therapies, Olivia will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy and is confident she will be back later in the year, better than ever, to celebrate her shows.'

Olivia said: 'I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia.'

The message concluded with a statement that the actress will not be accepting requests for interview and that fans can request refunds for the June concert dates directly from the venues.



Olivia initially postponed the first half of her tour earlier this month as she was suffering with back pain which she thought was sciatica.

A Facebook post from her team read: 'We are so sorry to announce that the Olivia concerts scheduled for May will be postponed due to a bad issue with Olivia's sciatica.'

Following that, Olivia herself posted to Facebook explaining: 'I have had a long running issue with sciatica and I need to take this time to rest and deal with this very painful condition.

'My husband John is taking great care of me and I want to thank all my family, friends and fans for their concern, love, support and good wishes.

'I look forward to returning to performing soon!' she concluded.

Around the same time, Olivia's daughter Chloe Lattanzi asked fans for 'healing prayers'.

The 31-year-old took to Instagram with a photo of herself and her mother and wrote: 'I love u mama. Miss U so much. Will all of u send healing prayers for my mamas back please [sic]'

She added: 'I believe in the power of positive thinking and energy. Love u all [sic]'

At the time, sources said they were 'very worried' and told New Idea that Olivia's condition was so debilitating she was unable to walk or get out of bed.

The Grease star has been touring her album LIV ON, an 11-song collection about overcoming trauma, including her battle with breast cancer and losing her sister Rona to brain cancer in 2013.

'As a group, it's our intention with this album to create songs with a message of compassion and hope,' she said.



'They are for anyone facing a time of challenge in their life, whether it is grieving a loss or on the journey to health and recovery.'

After her well-documented battle in the Nineties, she championed breast cancer awareness and in 2008 built the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

Olivia shares daughter Chloe with ex-husband Matt Lattanzi.

The Physical hitmaker has been married to John Easterling since June 2008. John is founder and president of natural remedy firm, Amazon Herb Company.
