Paloma Faith reveals her horror 20-hour childbirth

Paloma Faith has discussed her nightmare childbirth, in which she was in labour for 20 hours and contracted a womb infection - leaving her baby's life in jeopardy.

Speaking to The Sun, the 36-year-old songstress revealed the sheer horror she went through nine months ago as she admitted she 'went to the gates of hell' as she welcomed her baby with French partner Leyman Lahcine.

When announcing the baby news in December, she touched on her struggles while lauding the NHS for their help yet she has now gone into further devastating details, although insists she would 'do it all again' but also consider adoption.

Paloma announced her delightful news with Leyman in August last year, yet the couple have kept the sex and name of their child secret.

Despite her resolute silence, the star, who soared to chart-topping greatness with her 2009 album Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?, has now discussed the horror she went through with the tot's arrival.

Speaking to the publication, she said: 'Everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. I had 20 hours of labour and a premature one and then I wasn't dilating.

'The baby was in jeopardy and so I had to have an emergency C-section... Then I had so much other stuff go wrong afterwards because I also had an infection afterwards of the womb.

'I don't think I could walk properly for two months... It was really awful, I don't think my body was designed for it. Not to mention putting on three stone. I would do it all again... I just feel now like I want to adopt, I want loads (of kids) because it's amazing.'

Discussion of her agony coincides with the exciting release of the star's upcoming single Crybaby - which addresses global issues and politics and is out now.

Of the new song, she said: 'The lyrics are a conversation between a man and I, and the song questions whether global conflicts would cease to exist if men successfully dealt with their feelings. Would things be resolved without attack and with measured discussion?'

For the artwork of the new song, the stunning star posed as a pregnant robot before showing off her stunning figure in a stylish A-line mini skirt.

In December last year, the Picking Up The Pieces singer and her boyfriend announced the arrival of the tot when she posted a photo of a handwritten letter in which she revealed  details of her labour.

Captioning the image of her note 'God bless the NHS!' Paloma's letter read: 'After a difficult labour resulting in an emergency caesarean I gave birth to my first child with whom I am over the moon, in love and delighted.

'What a trip! It was all with the help of some incredible doctors, midwives and nurses at UCH NHS Hospital. The devotion, kindness and commitment shown by all of them was second to none and I am humbled by the whole experience.

'I really believe the NHS to be one of the greatest achievements of this country, and it should be respected and protected by all.

Earlier in 2016, the vocal powerhouse revealed the big pregnancy news in a post on her website, telling fans she's taking some time out as she prepares to be a mum.

In a lengthy post, Paloma wrote: 'I have spent my whole life wanting to be a mother and now the time has come for me to do so I feel so lucky.

She started her statement by chatting about progress on her new album before dropping her major news.

The post read: 'So the good news is my 4th album is well underway and I am very excited about it. It's actually nearly finished as I type!

'I have been working with the amazing Jesse Shatkin on it as producer and it has been a real honour. It is called "The Architect" and is very aptly named as it leads me on to my next announcement.'

'I am so delighted to tell you I am going to take a short while off to have a baby. I have spent my whole life wanting to be a mother and now the time has come for me to do so I feel so lucky.'
