Cuban plane crashes shortly after leaving Havana airport 18/05/2018



a plane has crashed shortly after taking off from Havana's main international airport, Cuban state television has said.



Initial reports suggested that the plane was travelling from Havana to Holguin, according to state tv, and had at least 100 people on board.



The Boeing 737, operated by Blue Panorama for Cubana airlines, had just left the Jose Marti airport when the accident happened.



Cubana airlines suspended its own domestic flights in March owing to a shortage of aircraft, according to security site Garda World.



It was unclear whether there were any injuries, but photos posted on social media appeared to show plumes of black smoke.



On Twitter local journalists said that firefighters were on the scene.
