Meghan Markle DID curtsy to the Queen but TV directors missed it
Meghan Markle DID curtsy to the Queen but TV directors missed it
Prince Harry's royal wedding to Meghan Markle yesterday broke many traditions, but the newly-appointed Duchess of Sussex did curtsy to the Queen.
Twitter users questioned whether the 36-year-old performed the respectful gesture to the monarch during the service at St George's Chapel in Windsor.
A camera blunder had meant viewers couldn't see the crucial moment being performed by the newlywed.
Unusual editing at the exact moment of the curtsy was to blame for misleading audiences.
Some royal fans inspected the clip closer and noticed the camera panned to a wide shot during Meghan’s bow.
But the TV gaffe still left many wondering whether they'd missed Meghan performing the dutiful move.
One Twitter user wrote: 'Any idea why there was no curtsy to the Queen?'
Another said: 'OK, forgive me if I missed it, but where was the curtsy?! Huge mistake if that was missed.'
'The BBC has committed a huge gaffe by not having been able to catch the Duchess of Sussex's curtsy to the Queen,' one added.
It is understand that in recent months Meghan has been schooled in royal etiquette and traditions by royal household and diplomatic staff.
This includes how to greet dignitaries – and expect to be greeted – once she becomes a member of the royal family, how to behave on royal engagements and the intricacies of palace life
Newlyweds Harry and Meghan begin their first day as a married couple today after tying the knot during an emotional wedding ceremony that captivated the nation.
They sealed their union with a kiss, processed through Windsor in a carriage and had a moving wedding reception speech in their honour from Prince Charles.
Now they are expected to travel home to take up royal duties, after exchanging vows in front of 600 guests including the Queen and more than 30 royals.
Famous faces like US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey, tennis champion Serena Williams, actor George Clooney and his barrister wife Amal Clooney also attended.
Sir Elton John, who sang at the funeral service for Harry's mother, Diana, performed at the lunchtime reception - while David and Victoria Beckham were also there.

With his gap-toothed grin and cheeky expression, it is clear that Prince George is growing up fast. Two pictures of the future king have been released by Kensington Palace to mark his seventh birthday today. Gone are his chubby cheeks and the frilled Peter Pan-collar shirts that his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, so loved to dress him in as a toddler and beyond. Instead we see a little boy, tousled blond hair swept aside and grinning, wearing a camouflage green T-shirt. An appropriate choice given he will one day inherit his great-grandmother’s mantle as Head of the Armed Forces. George is already said to be obsessed with helicopters like his father. In another picture he is wearing a favourite olive green polo shirt and shorts. The pictures were taken by his mother Kate at the family’s Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, where George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte, five, and two-year-old Prince Louis, have spent lockdown. Kate and Prince William are planning a party for ...
