Duchess of Cambridge stuns in Alexander McQueen coat at wedding

The Duchess of Cambridge opted for a rather familiar designer as she attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding.

Kate, 36,  wore a primrose yellow silk tailored coat as she entered the Chapel by Alexander McQueen, the label which designed her wedding dress.

The coat may seem familiar to royal watchers as the thrifty duchess has worn it no less than three times before.

She was first seen in the designer piece for the christening of Princess Charlotte back in July 2015 and then wore it again a year later for the Trooping of the Colour in June 2016.

She was seen most recently wearing it at the Passchendaele commemoration service during a visit to Belgium back in July last year.

But it seems that the jacket had another wear in it with Kate looking her elegant best  an oversized hat designed by Philip Treacy while wearing heels by Jimmy Choo.

While Kate was not an official bridesmaid, the mother-of-three could be seen guiding her children Charlotte, three, and George, four, who were flower girl and pageboy, down the aisle.

The Duchess was accompanied by fellow mum Jessica Mulroney, who was also helping to assemble her children who are also part of the bridal party.

The Cambridge's nanny Maria Borrallo was also on hand to support the royal children in their wedding duties.

Ahead of bride Meghan's arrival, the bridesmaids and pageboys were ushered in by Kate, who helped coax them into their positions with an encouraging hand on their shoulder.

The 36-year-old royal took her seat alongside Prince Charles and Camilla for the ceremony as her husband Prince William took his place as best man next to the groom.

The trio could be seen singing in hymns as part of the ceremony ahead of the Meghan and Harry's reception at Frogmore house later this afternoon.

Kate's youngest, Prince Louis, appears to have remained at home as at just three weeks old was deemed to young for the ceremony.

The Duchess of Cambridge is still on her official maternity leave which began at the end of March.

Aside from Thursday's wedding rehearsal and today she may appear at some family occasions during the summer but is not expected to return to official duties until the autumn, according to aides, and even then her 'primary focus' will be her children.

Other members of the Middleton family were also in attendance today including Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton and her two siblings James and Pippa.

The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, who is thought to be around four months pregnant, showed just a hint of her baby bump this morning as she set off from London with her husband James for Harry and Meghan's big day.

Pippa, 34, wore a pretty £495 Hepburn silk floral dress from brand of the moment, The Fold which features a close-fitting bodice and pleated skirt.

The expectant mother teamed her ensemble with nude suede shoes and a bespoke Jess Collett Milliner hat in blush with hand dyed flowers, straw honeycomb shards and a sinamay bow.

The ceremony itself was an emotional one with both Harry and Meghan fighting back the tears.

As she arrived at the altar Harry grabbed his bride's hand and told her: 'You look amazing' and said 'thank you, pa' after his father Prince Charles walked her down the aisle of St George's Chapel, Windsor.

But the tears turned to laughter when the star made him giggle as they exchanged vows in the extraordinarily moving ceremony watched by millions around the world.

Ms Markle’s wedding dress has been designed by the acclaimed British designer, Clare Keller, the first female Artistic Director at the historic French fashion house Givenchy.

The veil was held in place by Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, lent to her by The Queen, made in 1932 - an outfit that left her mother Doria Ragland, 62, in tears.

Meghan arrived accompanied by two page boys who held up her train as she made her way up the chapel’s steps alone and entered the chapel by herself, to begin the walk down the alter, before being met by the Prince of Wales.
