Serena Williams arrives at Nice airport ahead of Royal Wedding

They met in 2014 when they teamed up to play a game of flag football at DIRECTV's Celebrity Beach Bow, being close friends ever since.

And Serena Williams cut a stylish figure as she arrived at Nice Airport in the South of France on Friday amid reports that she will attend Meghan Markle's Royal Wedding to Prince Harry this Saturday at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, England.

The tennis champion, 36, showed off her toned physique in a black bodycon dress with a multicoloured patterned jacket over the top.

She accessorised her ensemble with a pair of black trainers, a black handbag, a silver pendant and oversized sunglasses. 

Serena's hair looked sensational as she styled her waist-length dark locks into a braided side ponytail.

The sports star has been training for the French Open, which starts on May 27, at her tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou’s academy that is based 15 minutes away from Nice Airport. 

Serena's outing comes amid reports that she's set to attend the Royal wedding this Saturday after she pulled out of the Italian Open in Rome last week, which has left her available to attend the big day.

While only recently, the mother-of-one fulled even more rumours about whether she would be attending during an interview with Good Morning America. 

When asked whether she would be going, she teased: 'I don't know, I think it's during one of the tournaments. We'll see if I can make it.'

She jokingly added: 'Don't be asking me those questions.'

Serena tied the know to her Reddit co-founder husband, Alexis Ohanian, 35, in a star-studded ceremony in New Orleans last Novemeber, just two months after welcoming their first daughter, Alexis Olympia, eight months, in September.

Yet it was revealed on Thursday, and in scenes which will air on the third episode of Being Serena on Wednesday, that the sports star received a text from her father Richard saying that he could not attend the wedding - just one hour before he was set to walk her down the aisle.

In the moment, she did not get angry or start feeling sad for herself, choosing instead to comfort her dad.

'Daddy, it’s okay, if you don’t want to come to the wedding at all, that’s okay too. I’m not going to be upset with you about it, so I don’t want you to be upset about it,' responded Serena.  

The scenes mirror the lead up to Meghan's wedding this Saturday, after she released an official statement through Kensington Palace on Thursday that her father would not be attending the wedding or giving her away.

It read: 'Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding.

'I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.' 

With Meghan choosing her future father-in-law, Prince Charles, to give her away instead - with Kensington Palace confirming the news.
