A giant stage prop came crashing down during a Oscars rehearsal just hours before the star-studded event was set to take place at Dolby Theater.

The huge structure of a skyscraper model toppled over and crushed a camera, TMZ reported.

Host Jimmy Kimmel had been practicing a skit at the time, but was not on stage at the time, sources said.





The incident happened at 11.30am and witness said it made a 'horrifying sound' and even tore down a curtain. No one was hurt in the accident.



Nearly an hour before the show was set to go live, the Academy said the pieces had been repaired and it would not impact the show.

The 89th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday 8.30pm EST. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the event for the first time.
