Oscars 2017 Justin Timberlake kicks off show with medley

Justin Timberlake had the A-list crowd on their feet as he kicked off the Academy Awards on Sunday night. 

The Oscars telecast opened at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre with the singer rocking a song and dance routine from the lobby through the audience to the stage.

Hollywood's A-list jumped to their feet to dance and clap along to his Oscar nominated song Can't Stop The Feeling, setting a tone of energy and excitement for Tinseltown's biggest night.

In fact, it soon became one big party as Justin segued into the Bill Withers hit Lovely Day. 

'Hollywood, you look so lovely tonight. But do you feel lovely tonight?' he shouted out.

The crowd roared back.

The former boy-bander walked the front row of the audience dancing with Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban , Denzel Washington and Halle Berry.

Justin then danced with his wife Jessica, putting his arm around her as they swayed from side to side.

The couple were also spotted kissing each other sweetly in the crowd. 

Jessica got into the rhythm of the song, clapping along with the rest of the audience as the song came to a close.

Justin then introduced host Jimmy Kimmel.

Kimmel told him that his great performance might persuade NSYNC to take him back if there’s a reunion.

Then as the audience regained their seats, Kimmel quipped: 'Oh great... a sitting ovation.'

Justin's song Can't Stop The Feeling, from the film Trolls, has been nominated for Best Original Song.

It is competing against La La Land, Jim: The James Foley Story, and Moana for the honor. 

All of the songs nominated will be performed at the ceremony.

John Legend will be among the performers, playing the songs City Of Stars and Audition (The Fools Who Dream) from his film, La La Land.
