She's a global style icon so it's perhaps no surprise that the Duchess of Cambridge has fashion followers all over the world.

But it seems one very high-profile fan has been taking inspiration from her wardrobe of late, as onlookers have spotted uncanny similarities between Kate's outfits and the Queen's.

The monarch, who has worked with dressmaker Angella Kelly for almost 25 years, normally sticks to her tried-and-tested formula of pastel-coloured cover-ups and slip-ons from Anello & Davide of Kensington.





But in recent months she has stepped out in a series of more vibrant colours featuring sharp tailoring and even nipped-in waistlines that wouldn't look out of place in the Duchess's wardrobe.



The similarities don't stop there; earlier this week the Queen wore a blue and white dress that bore a striking resemblance to a Naeem Khan creation worn by Kate, 35, during a visit to the Taj Mahal last year.

'Is the queen's stylist copying Kate?' asks fashion expert Simon Glazin. 'Has Her Majesty secretly got her own Pinterest board full of Kate outfits?

'What's important is that both ladies look great, even if they are wearing similar styles. And what we do know, though, is that the Queen has probably had some of these outfits hanging in her wardrobe for years now.

'So maybe it's the other way round... is Kate copying the queen? After all, Her Majesty's colour co-ordination rivals even the most skilled of stylists!'
