Tom Hanks shares tribute for Bill Paxton who died at 61

Actor Bill Paxton has died at the age of 61 due of complications following a surgery, his family said.

TMZ claimed the actor 'underwent heart surgery and had complications post-op and suffered a fatal stroke.'

Soon after Hollywood friends took to social media to pay their respects to the man who worked on such blockbusters as Titanic and the TV series Big Love.



Tom Hanks took to Twitter to share his feelings. In his brief note the 60-year-old Oscar winner wrote: 'Bill Paxton was, simply, a wonderful man. A wonderful man. Hanx.'

Together they co-starred in the 1995 film Apollo 13. They had also worked on the upcoming The Circle.



Jamie Lee Curtis, who worked with the actor on the 1994 hit film True Lies opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, also shared a sweet note.

'Nooooo. Bill Paxton is gone. Such a funny, talented, loving human,' the actress began.

'Louise & the children & family my heart & support 2 u.'



She used the hashtag for True Lies and shared a photo of them together in the comedy caper about a man (Schwarzenegger) who leads a double life.

Arnold soon after shared his grief. 'Bill Paxton could play any role, but he was best at being Bill - a great human being with a huge heart. My thoughts are with his family.'

Charlize Theron tweeted that he was a 'great friend' to her and also 'one of the finest actors to share a set with.' She added she was sending much love to his family.



Rob Lowe talked about his 'close friend' and one of the 'finest actors in the business.'

The Parks & Recreation actor also called the star a 'national treasure.'

The former Brat Packer then asked people to watch Bill's films One False Move and A Simple Plan on Oscar Sunday.



Paul Reiser said: 'Just heard the so so sad news about my pal.'

Vincent D'Onofrio added: 'Bill Paxton is 1 of my favorite actors. I was able 2tell him so when we met yrs ago. Paxton was wonderful in everything he did. He inspired us.'

Cary Elwes of The Princess Bride fame said it was 'very sad to hear about Bill Paxton. His talent, enthusiasm and energy were unique. Our thoughts are with his family.'

Julie Benz shared a photo with Paxton from their upcoming CBS series, Training Day. 'Rest In Peace my sweet friend.'

Benz’s tweet was followed by tributes from more Training Day costars including Drew Van Aker and Katrina Law.



'Words can not describe this man,' Van Aker wrote on a photo of the pair on Instagram. 'One of the most genuine people I have EVER come across. I will never forget what I have learned from him and how he affected every one around him.'

Law added, 'Hug the ones you love.

The Titanic and Aliens star passed away on Saturday, after a heart surgery had complications post-op and he suffered a fatal stroke, according to TMZ.

He was in a host of Hollywood hits, including Twister, and had an Emmy for Hatfields and McCoys.

He is set to appear alongside Tom Hanks and Emma Watson later this year in The Circle, which is in post-production.
